Vans first caught our attention with its electric "Lightning" take on their shoes, and now they're heating things up again with their "Flames" look.
Instant similarities were made with Ian Connor's Vengeance x Storm sneakers. Connor's most recognizable sneaker to date is a rip of the Old Skool, with a lightning bolt in place of the side stripe. Thus, when Vans showed its own interpretation by adding a protruding lightning bolt to the outer of the rubber vulcanized sole, the Twitterverse erupted, with Connor himself jumping in.
Vans is now using the same technique of extending the midsole applique with flaming flames, as seen here on the Vans Sk8-Hi. Hello, the curving peaks of flames extend into the upper of our newest twist on the traditional skate shoe. At the uppermost lace eyelets, the lace collar additionally adjusts itself for that flame-y appearance.
Two colors are currently in the works and will be available on Vans.com for $85 apiece very soon.
