Luxury Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier is marking its 30th anniversary with one of its most ambitious creations to date—the Carillon Tourbillon. Produced in an ultra-exclusive run of just five pieces worldwide, the remarkable timepiece pays tribute to the Maison’s heritage of restoration, craftsmanship, and horological innovation.
Rather than simply recreating a historical design, Parmigiani Fleurier drew inspiration from a rare early 19th-century Perrin Frères pocket watch that was meticulously restored by the brand’s ateliers in 2000. The new Carillon Tourbillon transforms the acoustic brilliance of that historic timepiece into a modern wristwatch that celebrates both sound and memory.
The watch is housed in a refined 41.6mm white gold case and features a breathtaking hand-hammered "Morning Blue" dial. Created as a signature finish for the brand’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, the textured surface reflects light beautifully, ensuring that every dial is completely unique. The subtle interplay between silver and azure tones gives the watch an elegant and almost artistic presence on the wrist.
One of the most striking design elements is the decision to move the tourbillon and power reserve indicator to the reverse side of the watch. This allows the dial to remain remarkably clean while placing full attention on the sophisticated striking mechanism displayed on the front.
Dominating the dial are four serpentine gongs that gracefully curve around the movement architecture. Rather than hiding the acoustic components, Parmigiani Fleurier turns them into a visual centerpiece, allowing the mechanics responsible for the watch’s signature chime to become part of its artistic identity.
Powering the Carillon Tourbillon is the hand-wound PF950 caliber, a highly complex movement made up of 456 individual components. The movement utilizes a dual-barrel system, with one barrel dedicated to powering the gear train and delivering an impressive 10-day power reserve, while the second barrel operates the striking mechanism.
An integrated flywheel regulator ensures that the chimes maintain a smooth and consistent rhythm, producing a harmonious sequence that accurately sounds the hours, quarters, and minutes. The result is a timepiece that combines technical mastery with emotional resonance, turning every strike into a reminder of the artistry behind traditional watchmaking.
With only five examples being produced, the Parmigiani Fleurier Carillon Tourbillon stands as one of the most exclusive releases in the brand’s history. More than a watch, it serves as a celebration of three decades of craftsmanship, restoration expertise, and a deep respect for horological culture.
For collectors and enthusiasts, the Carillon Tourbillon represents a rare fusion of mechanical innovation, acoustic beauty, and timeless design—a fitting tribute to Parmigiani Fleurier’s remarkable 30-year journey.
