For the past 36 years, the Nike Air Max 97 has played an important position in the Beaverton brand's powerful lifestyle archives. The famous Christian Tresser design now incorporates clad-corduroy tooling for the late summer aughts, mirroring just as many materials and compositions as its tenure under the Nike banner.
The silhouette's ribbed overlays provide a rainbow-like transition from the tongue's maroon accents to the dark teal full-length overlay, which is introduced via a light pink corduroy base layer. A subtle lime tinge pervades the tongue, while jet-black highlights the laces, pull tabs, inner lining, and tread underfoot. The full-length Max Air midsole contrasts with a light cream component, while the mid-foot window shines in bright white cursive.
