The Japanese brand atmos is back again with another glow-in-the-dark sneaker, this time collaborating with ASICS on the GEL-Kayano 14 “Yakoutake” colorway. This release marks the third GK14 from atmos in the past year, continuing their love for sneakers that light up in the dark.
This time, atmos drew inspiration from Mycena chlorophos, a bioluminescent mushroom found in Japan. The glow from this mushroom creates a unique concept for the shoe’s design, with the sneaker glowing softly in low light. The shoe’s upper features a translucent shade that mimics the look of these glowing fungi, while a deep brown color runs across the midfoot to the collar, evoking the look of soil. This design brings a natural, earthy feel to the sneaker, with the glow adding a futuristic touch.
Despite the glowing features, the sneaker’s overall design remains stylish and wearable, with atmos' signature Midas touch ensuring this sneaker stands out without being over-the-top. The colorway’s balance of subtlety and flash makes it a perfect addition to any collection, particularly for fans of atmos' glow-in-the-dark aesthetics.
The atmos ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 “Yakoutake” is available for purchase at ¥26,400 (around $170 USD). The draw for these sneakers is open now and will close on November 13th, with winners announced on November 14th. As with most atmos releases, this one is a Japanese exclusive, so it might be harder to grab if you're outside of Japan, but it’s worth keeping an eye out for potential future availability.
If you’re a fan of glowing sneakers or ASICS collaborations, this pair is definitely one to check out!
