Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe: A Consolation Prize for ISRU Participants

The long-awaited NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 by Tom Sachs had one of the most unique rollouts of the year. Fans were asked to use the I.S.R.U. (In-Situ Resource Utilization) app, where they took part in daily challenges and earned points for a chance to secure a pair. While a few lucky top scorers received access to purchase the Mars Yard 3.0, many participants left empty-handed.

Now, Tom Sachs has introduced a consolation prize for those who missed out — the NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe.

Originally launched in 2022 as the “boring shoe” designed for everyday wear, the General Purpose Shoe (GPS) has seen several colorways released over time. The line was paused in 2023 after Nike temporarily suspended its partnership with Sachs, but this new release marks its return in a special ISRU-themed colorway.

The design features an aged off-white upper with ISRU callouts on the medial midfoot, tongue, and heel tab. It carries the familiar GPS build, meant to be durable, versatile, and wearable for years — a fitting “participation prize” for those who engaged with the app but didn’t get the Mars Yard 3.0.

However, access is limited: only ISRU participants who were not allocated a Mars Yard 3.0 will be eligible to purchase the shoe.

Pre-orders for the Tom Sachs x NikeCraft General Purpose Participation Shoe are expected to open soon at $110 USD per pair, with orders closing on October 3. Delivery is scheduled for summer 2026.
