Millie Bobby Brown Returns in ‘Enola Holmes 3’ as the Hunt for Sherlock Begins

The world’s favorite young detective is officially back. Netflix has unveiled the first trailer and story details for Enola Holmes 3, bringing Millie Bobby Brown back into action for what looks like the biggest chapter in the franchise so far. This time, the mystery moves far beyond the streets of London and into the sun-soaked Mediterranean.

A New Mystery Takes Enola to Malta

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, Enola’s latest adventure unfolds on the island of Malta, where both her personal life and detective career take an unexpected turn. The trailer immediately raises the stakes when Lord Tewkesbury, once again played by Louis Partridge, proposes to Enola.

But the romantic moment doesn’t last long.

The real shock comes when Enola discovers that her older brother Sherlock Holmes has vanished. Henry Cavill returns as the legendary detective, but this time he becomes the one needing rescue.

The setup instantly changes the dynamic of the series. Instead of following in Sherlock’s shadow, Enola now has to step fully into her own role as the family’s leading detective.

Bigger Stakes and a More Mature Story

Speaking about the new film, Millie Bobby Brown explained that Enola is entering a much more mature stage of life.

“She’s built something for herself, but she’s also questioning what she wants next.”

That emotional growth appears to be a major focus of the third installment. Alongside the mystery and action, the film explores Enola balancing independence, relationships, and the pressure of proving herself without relying on Sherlock.

The Mediterranean backdrop also gives the franchise a fresh visual identity, replacing the darker Victorian London aesthetic with coastal cities, luxury estates, and high-stakes international intrigue.

Familiar Faces Return

Fans of the first two films will be happy to see several returning cast members. Helena Bonham Carter reprises her role as Eudoria Holmes, while Himesh Patel returns as Dr. John Watson. Sharon Duncan-Brewster is also back as Moriarty.

Behind the camera, director Philip Barantini takes over from Harry Bradbeer, bringing a new creative perspective to the franchise while still adapting the beloved novels by Nancy Springer.

Netflix Looks Ready for Another Hit

The Enola Holmes franchise has become one of Netflix’s most successful original film series, blending mystery, comedy, action, and coming-of-age storytelling into a modern take on classic detective fiction.

With Sherlock kidnapped, Enola engaged, and the stakes higher than ever, Enola Holmes 3 looks set to deliver the most ambitious adventure yet.

The film officially premieres worldwide on Netflix on July 1, 2026.
