During the previous two years, the New Balance 550 has amassed a plethora of color schemes to suit all tastes.
As summer approaches, Steven Smith's 1989 relic has reappeared in a number of subdued ensembles. A new "White" and "Turtledove" suit for the warm weather. The upper is perforated and smooth leather with a "colorless" treatment that allows for the tiniest contrast to shine through while also harkening back to the '80s. Branding and other elements on the upper blend in, drawing attention away from the old-school sole unit. The structural clips around the heel are an off-white color that matches the midsole. The "aged" look is completed by a grey outsole that has seen more wear on concrete streets than hardwood courts since its reintroduction in 2020.
