Lil Uzi Vert Previews Bold Vans Collection Inspired by Early-2000s Skate Culture

Lil Uzi Vert is officially stepping into the sneaker collaboration world with Vans, and true to form, the rapper is doing things differently. Instead of following the usual celebrity sneaker formula, Uzi’s upcoming 2027 Vans collection dives deep into vintage skate aesthetics, reviving the oversized and heavily padded footwear styles that dominated the early 2000s.

The collaboration perfectly reflects Uzi’s long-standing connection to emo, pop-punk, and skate-inspired fashion. From baggy silhouettes to loud color palettes, the entire collection feels like a direct extension of the rapper’s personal style rather than a simple branding exercise.

At the center of the capsule is a completely new Vans silhouette that embraces the chunky skate-shoe era in full force. The unnamed model features thick padding, a rounded upper, and a bulky cupsole construction that immediately recalls classic skate shoes from the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Early previews showcase the sneaker in pink-and-black and pink-and-white colorways, leaning heavily into the vibrant aesthetic that has become synonymous with Uzi’s fashion identity.

Several details help separate the sneaker from traditional Vans designs. The shoe includes oversized checkerboard laces, an exaggerated Vans logo stitched across the heel, and a small “LUV” tag integrated into the lace panel. Some sneaker enthusiasts have also pointed out similarities to the archival Vans Weston silhouette, suggesting the design may pull inspiration from the brand’s forgotten skate catalog.

Alongside the new model, Uzi is also reworking one of Vans’ most iconic silhouettes — the classic Slip-On. The updated version arrives with a bold pink-and-black checkerboard upper while custom insoles stamped with “by lil uzi vert” add a personal touch. Even the famous “Off The Wall” branding has been modified to match the collection’s rebellious energy.

What makes the collaboration stand out is its authenticity. Rather than chasing modern minimalist trends, the collection fully commits to the oversized skate aesthetic that shaped an entire generation of alternative fashion and music culture. For longtime fans of both Vans and Uzi, the project feels less like a commercial partnership and more like a nostalgic tribute to the era that influenced the rapper’s identity.

Official release details remain limited for now, but the Lil Uzi Vert x Vans collection is currently expected to launch sometime in 2027.
